Running is often deemed an ideal sport because of its low participation cost and the ease it can be done either alone or with groups (unlike say football where you need a team to participate). However, running can also be a bit repetitive and dull. Fortunately there are some fun ways to add a little bit of flare to your running. Our friend Becky at the Disney In Your Day blog participates in many themed runs with RunDisney and other events and has put together some great costume ideas that still allow the athlete to run freely and uninhibited.

Most of these ideas are designed for women but you can easily use the same fabrics and ideas and make them work for any person. This Tinkerbell skirt is light, bright, fun and ready for some pixie dust when you finish your race!

Want some help getting through the tough sections of your run? This Minnie Mouse inspired skirt is perfect to get you in the right mood. If you are talented enough to wear mouse ears while you run than it would be the perfect ensemble! At least get your picture taken with the ears on and then pretend you wore them the whole race. Who’s to know?

Believe it or not there are actually tutus designed for running. The one above is obviously inspired by The Little Mermaid and what a better way to be inspired for your run than dressing up as Ariel! She’s got such a fiery spirit!

There are also headbands, bows and tanks that can complete an outfit. You just want to make sure what you are wearing doesn’t constrict you in any way or make your race less comfortable.

Have you ever worn a running costume? What have you come up with? We’d love to hear from you and see your photos! Most importantly be safe and have a Happy Halloween!!
